The Beginning of a Dream

Following the upsurge of the dot com period, coupled with the increase of retiring baby boomers, the investment market began gearing itself towards a new trend. This would be a trend free of gimmicks and without unnecessary hype. This would be a trend that combined a more reliable means of investing money and the offering of peace and paradise. Thus began the real estate investment era, specifically centralized on paradise resort living.

At that same time, the Mexican government was revamping its laws regarding land ownership in Mexico. And there’s no better place than San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico to enjoy lush surroundings, white sand beaches, fabulous scenery, exciting recreation, and awe-inspiring ocean views. San Felipe is a place that caters to retirees, family vacationers and real estate investors alike. Until recently it was undeveloped resulting in affordability. San Felipe is a convenient drive from California and Arizona and is abundant in natural beauty. It’s exactly what one particular team of entrepreneurs was looking for.

The team is comprised of Dave La Barre, Andrew Fluss and Brian Crumrine, who discovered South Beach, San Felipe when exploring properties early in 2001. This team recognized the basic truths that people are retiring younger, healthier and wealthier, and as well desiring a change of lifestyle from the hustle and bustle. Thus, Mr. La Barre and his team searched the world over to find the perfect location to create the resort paradise the market was craving.

In the latter part of 2001 and early 2002 Mr. La Barre with his wife Shirley studied many cities along the beautiful Sea of Cortez. They reported back to the group that La Hacienda, in South Beach, San Felipe had an abundance of good water from the aquifers in the near by San Martir mountains and that there were on average 330 sunny days per year. This, coupled with the natural beauties of the Sea of Cortez and the desert, was enough for the entrepreneurs to begin the economic studies of developing land in the area.

Resolute on finding a place that was convenient, affordable, captured the essence of paradise, and would be a solid real estate venture for residents and investors alike, South Beach, San Felipe was picture perfect. Hence began the dawn of Mi Casa del Mar at La Hacienda, South Beach, San Felipe.

When meeting Dave La Barre, or any member of the team, it becomes obvious that they are passionate, energetic and consumed with building a better world for both Mexicans and Americans alike in San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico.

Aside from building a convenient and affordable paradise for vacationers and retirees, the team of Mi Casa del Mar at La Hacienda is creating employment for hundreds of local residents. Partnering with Victor Rodriguez, the President of the Mexicali Convention and Visitors’ Bureau (Cotuco), whose family owns the land that Mi Casa del Mar is developing.
