Buenos Dias!! Welcome to the August 2004 Newsletter from Mi Casa del Mar in beautiful San Felipe!! Hot weather roared into San Felipe. The current temperature in San Felipe is over 100 F during the day and close to 90 F at night. The ride level has also been increasing and this weekend we will be expecting one of the highest tides of the year. Picture of the Month
Much more than Sea and Sand Diverse landscape and attractive tourism make San Felipe a unique place in the state of Baja California. Two examples are the phenomena of the extreme tides where they are twelve hours each on average and the sea actually ‘withdraws’ from the beach. In some areas the sea ‘withdraws’ nearly a mile. Secondly, the landscape of the sea is contrasted against the forest of the San Pedro Martir Mountains where the landscape of the trees and streams offers a clear view for lover of nature. THE VAQUITA
Here in San Felipe we are very proud of the fact that we are directly involved in the preservation and study of the Vaquita, a small whale. San Felipe’s natural harbor provides an excellent feeding ground for the Vaquita which visits San Felipe on a regular basis. Unfortunately, the Vaquita is on the endangered species list. Government animal life conservation agencies have determined that the vaquita is in critical danger, undertaking a series of studies that will stimulate new preservation measures for the benefit of the animal kingdom. For more information we recommend you visit www.vaquitamarina.org. Mi Casa del Mar obtains AMPI Certification to Sell Real Estate in México Mexico has started certifying real estate agents and soon the government will require that all real estate agents be certified. All of our sales staff has been certified by AMPI here in México. It's great news for everyone that the government of México finally acknowledges the need for rules, regulations, and ethical guidelines for the real estate industry. We are all excited that this process is taking place. People can feel more secure in dealing with certified agents. No more “Punta Banda” episodes with certified agents. All certified agents will have an identification card issued to them by the Mexican government and you should ask to see it when dealing with an agent or agency in México. Certification is done by AMPI (Asociacion Mexicano de Profesionales Inmuebles - or Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals). Look for their symbol soon on Mi Casa del Mar brochures and materials. ASK ALICIA: Hi Alicia, I was wondering if you could recommend some plants for my yard here in San Felipe? Here at the sales office we enjoy a colorful variety of bougainvilleas. They are very easy to grow and just require daily watering. They are hardy plants for the area and provide year-round beautiful and colorful flowers. Here we have white, orange, pink and red. It is also possible to grow more plants by taking cuttings and growing roots, but this process requires some experience with plants. Here we have Luis, a full time landscaper, to help us keep our plants looking beautiful. If you would like to buy a bougainvilleas, simply stop by the local nursery and ask for it by its name in Spanish, bugambilia. ![]() If you have any question or you need more information about San Felipe (services, events, activities etc) please send an e-mail to
