Welcome to the July 2006 Mi CASA del MAR NewsletterLike a page out of the pastThe sun has just gone down on San Felipe, in its usual resting spot just beyond the mountains. In most other cities, this would mean that the majority of activities slow down. At this point in the day most families start heading inside to watch their favorite TV show, or maybe put in a movie. Not in San Felipe. Their slogan of “No Bad Days” are not just words, but a way of life, and seems to live on even after the sun has begun its peaceful slumber. Families and friends gather together, up and down the boardwalk area known as the “Malecon” to celebrate. To most, the first glance of this nightly occurrence springs forth a feeling of nostalgia. You think to yourself, this is how they show things being in those movies about the 1950’s. It resembles one of those little towns in the James Dean movies. You would almost expect to see car-hops on roller skates bringing meals to an awaiting car full of hungry teens. As you pass a frequented restaurant you anticipate hearing a jukebox, and seeing a couple standing there picking out songs to proclaim their love to the world. So, what are all of these people celebrating? I stop to visualize a calendar in my mind, trying to recall an important date I must have forgotten. You can see people cruising up and down the strip showing off their cars, just having fun. You can see young lovers holding each other swaying to the music from the band singing on the corner, and staring out at the moon’s reflection on the Sea of Cortez. For as far as the eye can see, family and friends gather together to plan events and just enjoy each others company. Children laugh and play, chasing each other around (not sitting around looking at the television screen or playing video games). Your senses are all alive with the sounds of the music and people laughing, the smells of the freshly cooked sea food from one of the many restaurants near by making your mouth water, and the sights of this sea-side paradise alive with life. So, what occasion makes all of this possible? There is no holiday or special event that brings all of these families and friends together. They simply gather here most every night in San Felipe to celebrate life and love. Come build memories of your own, and feel that true sense of community we all are looking for. Come to San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico. Just InInaugural flight of Grey Eagle Airlines to San Felipe will happen on August 8th.The announcement was made a few months back that Grey Eagle Airlines would be the first to bring commercial flights to San Felipe on June 16th. Commercial flights coming to San Felipe would open the door to a vast number of travelers seeking that resort destination that is just a little different than most. It would also make getting here easier for the thousands of people who call San Felipe their home away from home. The June flight landing was featured in the June Mi CASA del MAR Newsletter, as well as featured on the Calendar of Events on San Felipe Living. As with all huge advances in the evolution in a resort town, there was a slight delay. Now that they have made it through the red tape and all of the details have been worked out, they are firmly planning the 1st commercial flights to land on August 8th. Congratulations San Felipe. You can now reserve your Casitas or Condos online at lascasitas.com.mx. No more calls to Mexico, then waiting by the phone for that much sought after date. Not you! Just pick the date you want and move to the head of the line! Mastercard, Visa, and American Express Cards are welcomed, and encouraged. “Condos?” you say with a question in your voice. “Ah yes.” I say with wisdom. Our property management team now has 5 Condos in the Villas, across from Las Casitas that can be rented too! We’ll have more soon. We have one and two bedroom units, which can accommodate 2 or 3 couples or families for a lot less money than multiple Casitas. The Villas has a great pool, charcoal grills, and of course, that BEACH! “Property Management?” you ask with one brow raised. “You bet!” I exclaim. If you have a home in San Felipe, or are thinking of buying one, talk to us. We can generate some income for you from our rental customers, and at the same time make sure your Vacation Home is ready for your Vacation. We call it “Live the Dream with Peace of Mind.” “Wow! What else?” you query with awe. “I thought you’d never ask!” I sigh with relief. We’ve rented the lobby at the Villas de la Hacienda as our new Check In / Check out area. Just like a real hotel! It is almost renovated and we expect to be there in just a few days. It’s just across the street from Las Casitas and so much more convenient. We’re implementing a lockbox system for late check-in's. You’ll never have to worry about finding the right person who has your keys. We’ll email your lockbox code in advance if we know you’re arriving late. We’ve got several other projects underway: • The new sand volleyball court is almost ready. After the weather cools off a bit, we’ll be havin’ some fun there. • A new poolside restaurant is in the planning stages. The initial plans are with the architects, and we’re interviewing Chef’s to prepare the menu. This is not going to be another San Felipe taco stand, folks! Trust me. • The Sunset Deck will be a place where we can meet for a glass of wine and unwind as day turns to dusk. Built on top of the La Hacienda water tank, we’ll have magnificent views of the desert, the mountains, and oh yes, the Sea of Cortez. Materials have been ordered and the renovation will begin soon. Order a Cabernet for me and I’ll see you there! Look for other happenings at your favorite spot, Las Casitas at La Hacienda. We’re making so many changes and you’ll have so many reasons to come back for another visit. “See you soon!” I say knowingly.
