Important information for tourists. We expect a lot of tourism from all over Southern California and Arizona. This is the big holiday for people out to party and go wild on the beach. According to a communiqué from the Secretary of Tourism, starting this coming Friday September 3rd through Monday September 6th, "Operation Labor Day" will be in effect to provide information and help to the many visitors expected in Baja California for the weekend. State and local authorities will patrol the roads and towns. 16th of September, "Dia de La Independencia de México" ![]() The 16th of September 1810 marks the beginning of Mexico's struggle for independance from Spain. Hence, this day is similar in many ways to the American "4th of July" which commemorates the United States' Independance from Britain. "El Grito" Every 16th of September is the Mexican Fiesta par excellence! A civic event commemorating the anniversary of Mexico's independence from Spain that culminates in a community festival highlighting the country’s values. On this day Mexicans all over the world celebrate Mexico’s independence from Spanish rule. Places to Visit in San Felipe ![]() ![]() Puertecitos: 94 kilometers (56 miles) south of San Felipe is a little port called Puertecitos where you can go fishing or enjoy thermal waters. The hot springs are geothermally heated tide pools. There is a small hotel with 5 rooms, a boat ramp and other services including telephones and a few little stores. About Mi Casa del Mar ![]() There are several new projects coming online here at Mi Casa del Mar. The 18 Hole Championship Golf Course is going to start construction with in 16 months. And it will be completed in about three years after that. We will soon be offering "La Hacienda Estates". These homes will be roughly ¼ to ½ acre home sites with sweeping views of the beautiful Sea of Cortez and views of our championship golf course. We will commence taking deposits on these estate home sites next month. These home sites will be raffled off if there is a rush of people interested in them. If you have any questions regarding these home sites, feel free to contact your representing agent of Mi Casa del Mar as soon as possible. ASK ALICIA: Hello Alicia, My name is Ted Wysinger and I am from Oakland, CA. I'm writing to you about a BLUES CONCERT or CLUB DATE at Mi Casa del Mar. I have a Blues Band called "THE BLACK DIAMOND BLUES AND OLDIES BAND". We play music from the 50's-90's. You may know my sister and brother-in-law Shirley & Dave La Barre. They have enjoyed my band at several parties here in the San Francisco Bay Area. We already have 3 CD’s on the market and I'm sure Dave or Shirley just might bring one for you to hear our music. Please call me if you or anyone you know is interested in hiring our band in San Felipe. We would love to make the trip down. I will include my phone numbers for you to pass on to any interested people in the La Hacienda area. Thank You, Ted Hi Ted, Thanks for writing me. Saludos! from the beautiful port of San Felipe. I work with Dave La Barre here in San Felipe and I will ask him about your music. This time of the year in San Felipe is very quiet and all the tourist activity slows because of the high temperatures. Soon that will all change and San Felipe will fill with snowbirds who come to enjoy the nice weather. In the next few weeks the SAN FELIPE MARINA RESORT will be opening its remodeled palapa bar featuring a new venue for jazz and blues artists. I will put you in touch with the management to help you arrange a performance. We look forward to enjoying the entertainment of your band's music.
